As the U.Va. Today News Blog and others have reported, actress and alum Jen Lilley has hit stardom with her roles on General Hospital and the French film, The Artist. In preparation for the Oscars, where The Artist was slated (and did eventually win) "Best Picture," we once again caught up with Jen to ask her what her favorite movies were. Here's what she shared with us:

Charlottesville has quite a bit going to keep it on the map in the world of cinema: in particular, on Sunday night, it was home to one of only 49 official nationwide screenings of the 84th Annual Academy Awards. Oscar Night America at the Paramount Theater, a benefit for the Virginia Film Festival, proved to be a sparkling affair, attended by a varied and very sophisticated looking crowd. Awards season is upon us once again, and we at Iris are beyond excited. To prepare for Sunday’s ceremony, some of the interns have given their personal favorites to win the highest honors. Be sure to catch some of these fantastic films if you haven’t already! Valerie Best Picture - It's a close call for me between The Help and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. The Iris team is happy to announce the winner of our Essay Contest! After two months of reading through all of our amazing essay submissions, we are pleased to announce that Mr. Claude Smith's essay "Question Mark" was our 2011 winner. Mr. Smith's essay will appear in a future issue of the print edition of Iris. In the coming weeks, we will also announce our runner-up and publish that piece here on the website.
