  1. Most love stories begin with a hello, ours began with a ransacked lunchbox, a stolen spork, and a touch of pyromania.
  2. I didn’t know who else to tell. I’m sorry it had to be you.
  3. Today, I paid a psychic $10 to tell me that we would end up together. I know you’d say it’s a waste of money, but it tickled as she traced a finger across my love line—our love line. I just needed someone to tell me that we were the definition of fate.
  4. It hurts to love someone so much, yet so quietly. Can we please promise to love each other loudly?
  5. I wish I had a time machine, so that I could visit you as a child. I want to listen to you whistle off-key melodies through your baby teeth and watch as you psychotically arrange your stuffed animals in an exorcist-like circle.
  6. I think I love you too much to ever say it aloud, so I’ll wrinkle my nose and say I hate you instead. And we will communicate in the way that lovers and enemies do.
  7. Your body slides into mine—a lock clicking into place. Our bodies fit together perfectly as if we were puzzle pieces in a past life. I think you’d definitely be an edge piece, would I be a corner?
  8. Only you could convince me to watch a game of basketball.
  9. Sorry I was too chicken to tell you all this in person. I probably would’ve blushed too hard and tumbled over my words, crumbled into a tangled heap of “I love you more than words can describe.” And I wanted this to be perfect, for you.
  10. I downloaded Duolingo today. I wanted to become fluent in all the love languages, so that I could love you in all the ways you wanted—needed—to be loved, only to find out that damn green bird doesn’t offer them.
  11. I want to shrink you and pop you in my pocket, so that I can take you with me everywhere. But I think that’d be selfish of me—depriving the world of you.
  12. Thank you for giving me the privilege of loving you.
  13. With all my love,
