Well, it's the end of an era. The school year is over, and my matriculation at the University of Virginia is over. I graduate this weekend. By the time you read this, I'll have already graduated.
I promise I'm not so much of a narcissist that I chose to use my picture for this. I was encouraged to by the rest of my team. But hey, I look pretty good, right?
But, yes, this is our last cycle for the year and subsequently, my last Iris cycle, period. I'm sad to leave but... not too sad. These past 4 years were great, but they were certainly not the best 4 years of my life. As Maddie touches on so well in her piece, there have to be better things.
I'm ready to go on to better things. First, I'm going to have a relaxing summer. With summer comes its own anxieties, of course. Devin highlights how warmer weather and less clothes often reveal body issues we forgot we had. However, she encourages us all to try to overcome that.
And of course, the ending is bittersweet. I'm not sure if I'm going to cry at graduation. Knowing myself, it'll probably hit me much later, totally out of the blue. Maybe in a public place, but like Laura points out, that's normal and okay.
It's been a hellUVA ride these last four years (was that too corny?) and I'm so grateful that I've been able to have Iris for the better part of them. I hope Iris makes your time at UVA (or beyond, depending on whatever stage in life you're reading this) great too.
