We're Back and We're Better: A Letter from the Editor

We're Back and We're Better: A Letter from the Editor

Well, the semester has kicked off and is in full swing. Students are having "midterms" (which, as all UVA students know, are not at all confined to the middle of the term), people are freaking out trying to come up with summer plans, and we have a bunch of stuff to share with you all!

How are you all doing this semester? Feeling a litle overwhelmed? Understandable. Luckily, our intern Laura Hinnenkamp has a bunch of great suggestions for how to make sure you're staying mentally healthy amidst the stress of the spring semester.

And hey, maybe it's not regular UVA stress you're dealing with. Did any of you spend the fall studying abroad? Or are you possibly studying abroad right now? Our intern Maddie Baker can relate. She just returned from a fall semester in Scotland... and it wasn't exactly what she thought it would be. She was excited to share it with you all, and we are SO happy to have her back.

Of course, just because the spring semester is off and running, doesn't mean we can forget about all the stuff that happened last fall. That's why intern Devin Garcia has an article about the two second-year students who are bringing the #MeToo movement to Grounds

And, we even have a little bonus for you all. Check out this cool podcast about love, sex, and intimacy featuring our amazing Graphics Intern, Kirsten Hemrich. Valentine's Day came and went, but it's never a bad time for straight talk about sex.

As you can see, we have a lot of awesome stuff to share with you all. Are you thinking you might have some stuff you'd like to share with the Iris audience? You're in luck! Our internship applications for the 2018-19 academic year are OPEN! If you've ever even considered the possiblity of writing for Iris, we encourage you to apply. You can contact me with any questions.

Stay brilliant, everybody.
